Many pool owners always ask me ” is there a special remedy to keep your swimming pool blue all year round.?” And unfortunately even with my amount of knowledge there are no special remedies but I can give you a few tips which will most certainly help in keeping your swimming pool blue.

Back in the day my friend and I both had swimming pools and I spent just about every minute of my free time trying to clean it and get rid of the green colour. My friend on the other hand was usually out and about, his pool was forever blue and it was not until years later that I learned that there are so many factors which can play a part in your pool been blue or green. There are things like the soil which the pool is built on, if there is construction happening near your pools or area which can instantly turn a pool green. Your house may be located where there is more acid in the rain and so on …..

Below I list some Tips for you to keep your swimming pool blue.

Brush your pool on a regular basis. I cannot explain to you just how important this is as it not only gets rid of the dirt at the bottom but by brushing your pool you add oxygen into the water in formula is 02+H2O= Blue pool. This should be done at least 3 – 4 times a week. If you cannot find the time to do it then that is why there are pool companies like us that do it for you.

Change your filter sand at least once a year this is an extremely vital part to keep your swimming  pool blue and clear. Without clean sand a pool will seldom turn blue. How will you know when to change? When the pool is cloudy and you cant seem to clear it or when you run a backwash cycle if the water returning to the pool is not clear then change the sand.

Add the correct chemicals required when needed and not just because you found a tub of pool chemicals remember less is more. Always ask before just adding as this will save you the headache later on. Remember less is more not more is less.

Test your water regularly by this you can purchase a test kit from any hardware or pool shop and if you do not have the funds or time then take a sample of your pool water to either builders warehouse, the pool team or even us and we can test it for you for free. Do Ph tests at least twice a day to ensure your pool water is always well balanced. Remember anything can change Ph  such as weather, people swimming, suncream lotions etc …and that is why I say check it twice a day or as often as you can.

Hire a swimming pool company This may seem like a costly task but it really is not. If you consider how much money you spend on pool chemicals every month and how much time you spend then this usually can prove to be a much more cost effective option for you.
