If anyone asks us how to remove sand from a pool? I have to ask how the sand ended up in the pool in the first place?

If sand is coming into your pool and it is not your average dust particles, but infact it is your filter sand coming into the pool, then you have a small problem. However getting it out should not be the big worry.

There are probably more ways to do this but these are the most effective:

METHOD 1:

  • Connect an external dredging pump
  • Connect a long enough hose which can reach everywhere in the pool and connect to the pumps inlet should it have an inlet some pumps dont and only have one discharge side as the suction happens at the bottom of the pump
  • Connect a hose to the outlet of the pump (this will be where the water and sand comes out
  • Now connect the one side to the pumps inlet if it has, and the other side of the hose to a 8 wheeler or vacuum brush
  • Switch on and try be quick! A dredging pump will drain your pool fast

METHOD 2:

  • Set your multiport on waste
  • Connect your kreepy hose one side into the weir and the other to a vacuum brush or 8 wheeler
  • Make sure your weir and pump catch baskets are clean. If I were you i would put clingwrap or a small sized net which sand cannot go through into the weirs catch basket. This will prevent sand going into your pump and destroying it
  • Switch pump on and begin to suk the sand out
