Pool safety in South Africa has become a huge topic, as more and more pool owners are neglecting the safety measures which are required by law, and because they are not followed the result is kids drowning and also pets too.
Having a pvc cover is the best option you can go for but it does hold quite a hefty price. A fence with a lockable gate is about the same price if not more but what price can you honestly put on a childs life?
I remember a few years back and not the first time we have gone to a client and seen this happen but I remember arriving at a clients house to do a cover installation as while we were offloading the equipment the owner was inside his house and we came up the stairs leading to his pool and I remember seen a little puppy, probably around 5-6 months old splashing around trying to get out the pool. He had obviously fallen in but the look of desperation on that dogs face man if we had of gotten there just 10 minutes later that poor puppy would have drowned. I have not seen a child drown and never wish too but some of our clients kids have drowned and I always think to myself why must one wait for something tragic to happen before you do something about the pool safety? I know money is tight but rather be safe then sorry. Because once it happens its to late so bite the bullet now get it over with and you can sleep in peace at night.
