When you notice water coming out of the backwash pipe when on filter

Have you recently discovered that when your pool is running on the normal filter cycle, that there is water coming out from the backwash line? So many people swear blind that there pool is leaking but there are no visible cracks so what can it be?

Well if you are a pool owner experiencing this issue fear not as the problem is not major and it is a low cost repair so do not worry.

Below is a picture of a multiport with the top lid off, now if you pull yours off you will notice a seal in there as per picture 2.

This is called an MPV seal or wagon wheel gasket, should this seal not be seated correctly into the grooves of the multiport or should the lips of the seal be worn down or damaged this will cause your pool to lose water through your backwash line.

Also be sure to inspect the plastic grooves inside the multiport for cracks or broken pieces should the seal be found to be fine.
